Fantasy Basketball 2013: PF Kenneth Faried Is The Real Deal

Kenneth Faried - Denver Nuggets

If you look down the line at some of the best sources of both points and rebounds for your fantasy basketball team, one name at the top of the list will be Denver Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried.

The second-year man out of Morehead State has broken out after a decent rookie year, and is now averaging a double-double with 12.3 points and 10.2 rebounds. After seeing limited minutes in the team’s first two games, the Manimal went for 22-and-12 against the Miami Heat and never looked back. Since that game, he has recorded a double-double in 20 of 36 games and has been one of the best overall players on the Nuggets, along with being one of the best power forwards in the league.

He has not only consistently posted double-digit points and rebounds numbers, but he also averages about a steal and a block per game, and is shooting at a solid 55-percent clip. He showed all of this promise in his rookie season, as he averaged 10.2 points and 7.7 rebounds in around 22 minutes per game.

Now playing close to 30 minutes with a full season of experience behind him, Faried has developed as expected, and is showing great improvement on both the offensive and defensive glass.  Those who were able to draft him in the middle rounds or buy low on him early are reaping the rewards now. Those considering selling high on him now should think twice. There’s no reason to believe the 23-year old can’t continue to put up these numbers all season as long as he is healthy.
