Fantasy Basketball Stud Performance: Jameer Nelson

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Wizards may have the worst record in the NBA, but they can be considered a “hot” team as of late, winning three in a row after demolishing the Orlando Magic 120-91. The Magic were looking forward to playing the Wizards tonight, as their roster is finally getting healthy with the return of Glen Davis and E’Twaun Moore. But it didn’t matter as the Wizards led the entire game and shot a season-best 56.1 percent from the field. Even though the Magic got their butts handed to them, fantasy basketball owners of Jameer Nelson continue to be rewarded on a nightly basis.

Nelson finished with a team-high 19 points, and recorded his sixth double-double of the season. Jameer chipped in 12 assists, three steals, two rebounds, and three 3-pointers. Nelson has been very productive for his owners as of late, averaging 22.0 points, 8.8 assists, and 3.2 three-pointers over the last six games. Don’t expect this type of production to continue throughout the season, but if teammate Arron Afflalo continues to struggle like he did tonight by missing 11 shots, Nelson will put up big numbers for his owners.

Nelson is virtually owned in all leagues, but his average draft position was 110.5. Those who drafted Nelson are certainly getting their money’s worth at the moment.

Game Notes:

The Wizards were 4-28 before their winning streak, and have beaten the Magic, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Atlanta Hawks. John Wall chipped in 12 points and six assists in 20 minutes in his second game of the season after missing the Wizards’ first 33 games with a left knee injury.

The Wizards scored 37 points in the 3rd quarter, which is a season-high.

Rookie Bradley Beal was presented with the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award  for December.
