Fantasy Basketball Stud Performance: DeMarcus Cousins

The Sacramento Kings snapped their 4-game losing streak with a 124-118 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night. With both teams struggling on defense as of late, it’s no surprise that there was almost 250 total points scored in this game.

The Kings winning effort was led by DeMarcus Cousins. The troubled center really filled the stat sheet up for his team and his fantasy basketball owners on Monday night. Cousins finished the game with 26 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. Impressive numbers for sure, but even more impressive was the fact that DeMarcus shot 7-14 from the field and was a perfect 12-12 from the free throw line.

The absence of Cavs center Anderson Varejao proved to be a problem, as Cleveland just had no answers for Cousins, who poured in 14 points and 8 rebounds in the first half. Cousins was called for a technical foul in the third quarter after committing his first foul of the game. Less than a minute later, Cousins was called for a controversial flagrant 1 foul against Tyler Zeller. After being sent to the bench for the majority of the third quarter, Cousins went on to score 8 big points in the 4th quarter as Cleveland tried to rally.

The Kings future in Sacramento is in doubt, and rumors are flying around that Cousins will eventually be traded, but the fact remains that Cousins is a fantasy basketball stud. Regardless of what city the Kings franchise ends up, or what team Cousins may be traded to, his owners should be very happy with Cousins’ play this season. If you do own Cousins, just keep an eye on him if he does indeed get traded, even though that shouldn’t have much effect on his value.
