It has been a longtime since fantasy hockey fans have mentioned the name Jaromir Jagr.

Jagr won the Stanley Cup in 1991 and 1992. He has been elected to eight All-Star games. He won the Hart Memorial Trophy (MVP) in 1999. He has even led the NHL in points five separate times throughout his illustrious career. However, in recent years Jagr has simply become just another waiver wire option and no one worthy of being on any kind of fantasy roster.

This season is looking completely different for Jagr, though. He has started off quick with the Dallas Starsand the right-winger has fit in perfectly with his new team. Jagr is getting quality minutes and is certainly making the most of his time on the ice.

The 18-year veteran has six shots on goal so far this season. Jagr has also amazingly scored two goals and added two assists this year, all of which came in the team’s 4-3 win over the Phoenix Coyotes. Jagr looks like he did when he was in his prime and fantasy owners are certainly getting intrigued.

The former Pittsburgh Penguins superstar has seen his fair share of teams since leaving the Steel City. Jagr has played with the Washington Capitals (2001-03), New York Rangers (2003-07), Philadelphia Flyers (2011), and now the Stars. He has shockingly continued to come back to the NHL year after year, but this is the first time in years that he is finally ready to contribute regularly for fantasy owners.

Jagr may not be an everyday starter at this point in his career, but the journeyman has enough left in the tank to be worth some spot-starts during the week in daily leagues. He will be able to add four to five points per week and be a reliable source of shots on goal.
