However, through the first half of the season, Gibson has completely disappointed anyone who drafted the former USC Trojan. To this point in the season, he has only scored double-digit points 11 times and has only recorded double-digit rebounds twice.
Due to recent injuries, though, Gibson has found his way into the starting lineup. Starting power forward Carlos Boozer is still nursing a sore hamstring while center Joakim Noah is likely to miss time the rest of the year with a plantar fascia injury in his foot. This has completely opened the door for Gibson to get tons of minutes this week and it will allow him to rack up the fantasy stats across the board. As long as the aforementioned starters are still on the mend, Gibson will be a worthy fantasy replacement.
In Gibson’s four starts in the dynamic duo’s absence, he has dominated the fantasy world. He has registered an amazing 14.8 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks in his four games in the starting lineup. Gibson is a must have in all leagues with weekly waiver wires and he will be the hottest commodity in free agency all week long.
Gibson will get plenty of boards and blocks for the rest of the week, so if you have room on your roster, pick him up as soon as possible.
