Tournament: Northern Trust Open

Date: Thursday February 14-17

Location: Riviera CC, Pacific Palisades, California

Course Par: 72

Past Winners: Bill Haas (2012), Aaron Baddeley (2011), Steve Stricker (2010), Phil Mickelson (2009), Phil Mickelson (2008), Charles Howell III (2007), Rory Sabbatini (2006), Adam Scott (2005), Mike Weir (2004), Mike Wier (2003), Len Mattiace (2002), Robert Allenby (2001), Kirk Triplett (2000)

Overview:

Last year’s NTO was one of the most exciting finishes since the event was founded back in 1926. Bill Haas won the event, but not after Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley forced a two-hole playoff. However, Haas would go on to win with a beautiful birdie putt on the tenth hole. All three golfers will be attending the event this year, so expect them all to be in the center of the party this week at the Riviera.

The tour’s hottest golfer, Bradnt Snedeker, won’t be making the trip to California this week, so it may finally give another golfer a chance to make some money. Snedeker has cracked the top-three four different times already this season, including a win last weekend at Pebble Beach.

The NTO has grown in popularity each year and this could perhaps be the biggest year yet. Snedeker may be at home, and Tiger Woods may be chasing his ex-wife, but there will still be some exciting golf at the Riviera this week.
