Practice One Winner: Kevin Harvick

Practice Two Winner: Denny Hamlin

The Sprint Unlimited is only 42 laps long, includes just 19 drivers, and does not award any points, but it is still the first flag being dropped of the year. Naturally the first race of the season, means it is the perfect opportunity for us fantasy NASCAR addicts to get our first fix.

Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin dominated in practice on Friday night and both will be extremely popular picks this week.

Also fantasy owners can expect not to see 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion, Brad Keselowski, or runner up, Clint Bowyer, as both failed to win a pole last year.

Johnson may come much cheaper, as he finished just 14th here last year, but never count out the five-time champ. Dale Earnhardt Jr. also struggled last year, as he finished 20th, so he will be another bargain this early in the season.

Here are the top-15 fantasy NASCAR drivers for the Sprint Unlimited this weekend down in Daytona:

Kasey Kahne - Kahne has never fared exceptionally well at Daytona 500, so expect another subpar performance from the #5 car.

14. Juan Pablo Montoya

Juan Pablo Montoya – JPM is not exactly the best option this Saturday, but the Road Warrior could surprise some people this weekend.

13. Greg Biffle

Douglas Jones-USA TODAY Sports

Greg Biffle – The Biff quietly finished fifth last season with 2,332 points. The veteran is a reliable driver that will always give fantasy owners his best race after race.

12. Jeff Gordon

Douglas Jones-USA TODAY Sports

Jeff Gordon – JG seems quite determined to make some noise this season, but he has not fared well at Daytona since his glory years. Expect another performance with Gordon finishing outside of the top-10.

11. Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Douglas Jones-USA TODAY Sports

Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Junior will be a popular pick this week, like always, but it is safer to see just how ready he is to get behind the wheel.

7 of 16

10. Carl Edwards

Douglas Jones-USA TODAY Sports

Carl Edwards – Edwards has not placed better than 21st at the SU, so expect his early season slump to continue.

9. Martin Truex Jr.

Jennifer Stewart-USA TODAY Sports

Martin Truex Jr. - MTJ really matured last season and has become a top-10 machine.

8. Joey Logano

Douglas Jones-USA TODAY Sports

Joey Logano – J-Lo has cracked the top-10 in two straight races at Daytona and will be a great sleeper to watch for outside of the big names.

10 of 16

7. Marcus Ambrose

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

Marcus Ambrose – Ambrose finished third here last year, and while he may not be the flashiest pick, he can still have value in the shootout this year.

11 of 16

6. Jimmie Johnson

Douglas Jones-USA TODAY Sports

Jimmie Johnson – Johnson finished fourth in the Unlimited in 2011 and 14th in 2012. Expect him to finish somewhere closer to the middle in the 2013 warm-up race.

12 of 16

5. Matt Kenseth

Douglas Jones-USA TODAY Sports

Matt Kenseth - Kenseth won Daytona 500 last season and will enter the shootout extremely confident.

13 of 16

4. Tony Stewart

Douglas Jones-USA TODAY Sports

Tony Stewart – The Sprint Unlimited was one of the only races where Stewart raced well last year, as he finished third. Look for him to be very aggressive and willing to trade paint with almost every car on the track.

14 of 16

3. Kevin Harvick

Douglas Jones-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Harvick - Harvick won his side of the practice session and is bringing a beautiful car with him to Daytona Beach. Harvick will easily crack the top-five.

2. Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch - Busch started hot last season, so expect him to be on a mission again this February.

1. Denny Hamlin

Douglas Jones-USA TODAY Sports

Denny Hamlin - Hamlin was on fire in practice and was taking the turns at DIS with ease. He is my choice to be the number one fantasy option this weekend at Daytona.
