Vucevic tried his hardest to secure a big upset over the Miami Heat, and while his team ultimately fell thanks to a game-winning shot by LeBron James, his performance at least put the Magic in position to beat the Heat for the second time this season. He finished with a team-leading 25 points and 21 rebounds, and his 34 double-doubles is good for third in the NBA. The 25 points on 11-for-16 shooting was a season high.
The second-year big man clearly knows how to play the Heat, as this performance was his second 20-20 game of the year…against Miami. Back on Dec. 31 against the Heat he grabbed a season-high 29 rebounds and scored 20 points in a two-point loss. He apparently has Chris Bosh’s number as well as he has out-rebounded Bosh 50-14 in those two matchups.
After not doing much in his rookie year for the Philadelphia 76ers, Vucevic has proven to be a bargain for the Magic after they acquired him in the Andrew Bynum trade. He averaged 5.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 16 minutes his rookie year, and has jumped those averages to 12.1 and 11.2 in 32.3 minutes per game this year. It remains to be seen if the big man out of USC can keep up this spectacular play, but at least for one season fantasy owners have enjoyed a steal in Vucevic.
