2013 Fantasy Baseball: Philadelphia Phillies OF Domonic Brown Having Huge Spring

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

One slugger that is really making some noise this spring is Philadelphia Phillies OF Domonic Brown.

On Monday, the Phillies were blasted 17-10 by the Atlanta Braves, and the game showcased some of the best sluggers in the NL East. However, amidst all the power hitters in the game, Brown still stood out the most.

DB hit a single in the second inning of the game. He followed it up by crushing a two-run home run off Atlanta’s Kris Medlen in the fifth inning. Brown finished the game 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs.

On Tuesday, the team played the New York Yankees and it would be reasonable to assume that Brown would get the day off, but he didn’t. He was back in left field and ready to have another monster spring game. Brown hit another preseason home run off New York’s Adam Warren in the fourth inning, and the long ball seemed to put an exclamation point on the outfielder’s superb spring.

Brown has already blasted six home runs this spring and is showing much more power than he was originally thought to have. If Brown gets enough at-bats this season, he could easily hit over 25 home runs for fantasy owners.

Brown is a superstar prospect in dynasty leagues, but in standard leagues he will be a very popular mid-round pick. The 25-year-old will be a great third outfielder to target in smaller leagues and a second outfielder to target in deeper leagues.
