Fantasy Football 2013: Sleeper Alert, Lance Moore

The New Orleans Saints are an ideal fantasy football team. They have numerous players who are going to produce very solid fantasy numbers. The biggest advantage to the Saints’ team is their first-rated passing attack.

I have said it before; a receiver’s success relies on their quarterback. It can’t be truer in the situation in New Orleans. At the helm of their high flying offense is Drew Brees. He led quarterbacks in scoring last year, and he has done it multiple other times. If you are going to draft a wide receiver from any team, one of the most reliable ones is Brees.

The Saints’ first two receivers that come to mind are tight end Jimmy Graham and wide receiver Marques Colston. They are obviously going to get the most looks from Brees. They are both extremely talented and guys who are going to produce with big numbers. Both of those two guys are top tier fantasy receivers.

The biggest part of the huge success of Brees and that passing game has had is the way they spread the ball to so many different receivers. Nobody got more of that share not named Jimmy or Marques than Lance Moore.

Moore may be the most under-the-radar wide receiver there is. The fact that Graham and Colston overshadow Moore makes his value great. Looking at his fantasy points from last year in a standard scoring format, he outranked guys like Mike Wallace, Torrey Smith, and Jordy Nelson. You and I both would have guessed all three of those guys scored more points, but they didn’t.

It is great to see sleepers like Moore. He is a type of guy who can win you your league if he drops far enough. The farther he drops, the better you’re off. Depending on this guy to be your number two receiver is very safe.
