Race: STP Gas Booster 500

Location: Martinsville Speedway

Date: Sunday, April 7 2013 1:00 PM ET

Past Winners: Ryan Newman (2012), Kevin Harvick (2011), Denny Hamlin (2010), Jimmie Johnson (2009), Denny Hamlin (2008), Jimmie Johnson (2007), Tony Stewart (2006), Jeff Gordon (2005), Rusty Wallace (2004), Jeff Gordon (2003), Bobby Labonte (2002), Dale Jarrett (2001), Mark Martin (2000)

Overview:

Martinsville is one of the oldest tracks around and the oval has been seeing cars fly around since 1947. You know a track is vintage when all the track records are owned by a driver named Richard Petty.

Denny Hamlin is a two-time winner of the race, but DH will be at home after breaking his back in the much publicized crash with Joey Logano. Logano claims that it was an accident, but Hamlin doesn’t seem so sure. Needless to say, the NASCAR world will be watching Logano very closely in Martinsville.

Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon have both won here seven times throughout their illustrious careers. Both drivers will be very popular picks in fantasy drafts this weekend and will no doubt be near the front of the pack all race long.

There are still some sleepers to keep an eye on if you miss out on the superstars. Drivers like Mark Martin, Martin Truex Jr., Brian Vickers, and Jamie McMurray will once again be great drivers to look for after the big names come off the board.
