Fantasy Baseball: Add RP Kyuji Fujikawa Off Waivers

Carlos Marmol has been the closer for the Chicago Cubs through good times and bad, but unfortunately for fantasy baseball owners it has mostly been bad times.

Marmol has not finished with an ERA under 3.40 since 2010 and at times seems to have more blown more games than he actually saved. He currently has a football-like ERA of 27.00 and has given up an unflattering five runs through his first three appearances.

After just one week of baseball, the team finally made the decision to remove Marmol from the closer role. The team’s new closer will be the Japanese veteran, Kyuji Fujikawa.

It is a little ironic that Fujikawa has been named the closer, because the righty did just give up an uninspiring three runs in the team’s 6-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves. However, Marmol was the one who plated the losing two runs in the game and once again fell apart for fantasy owners.

Regardless of both of their struggles to end the week, Fujikawa will hands down be the better option to close out games for the Cubbies. He has a better mix of pitches and more importantly, isn’t the most abused closer in all of baseball.

Add Fujikawa off the wavier wire to load up on closers, because it has quickly become the most valuable position in fantasy baseball.
