2013 Fantasy Baseball: OF Carlos Gomez Has Become a Roto-League Superstar

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Among all the surprising starts to the 2013 fantasy baseball season, Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez’s has to be the most shocking.

He was once a prospect with the New York Mets, but has been long forgotten in recent fantasy seasons. However, Mighty Mouse has absolutely exploded during the 2013 season and has been one of the best value picks from this past spring.

The center fielder’s .368 batting average is leading the National League and his .417 On Base Percentage is currently fifth. He is almost getting on base every other at-bat, which has made him a superstar in roto-leagues through the early part of the season.

Gomez has already smashed six home runs with 14 RBIs. The outfielder is hitting a long ball every 19.7 at-bats and is showing unprecedented power. He has shockingly been the best hitter on a team lead by Ryan Braun, Rickie Weeks, and Jean Segura.

Gomez has always been known as a speedster and has stolen 137 bases throughout his career. He has already racked up seven stolen bases on the year and will be among the league leaders in this category all season long as well. His consistent ability to steal bags will only make him more valuable in roto-leagues.

Gomez is playing hot enough to be a second outfielder in deeper leagues. He may not keep up this pace all year long, but right now Gomez is tearing up roto-leagues.
