Peyton Manning Is A Better 2013 Fantasy Football QB Than Tom Brady

There has been an ongoing argument as to who is better – Peyton Manning or Tom Brady? This is a continuation of that argument, kind of.

Let me explain. I am not going to go in to the historical matchups of these two great QBs. I am not going to talk to you about Manning’s playoff record or Brady’s Super Bowls. This argument is strictly about this coming season, and only as it pertains to fantasy football.

Looking through a long list of fantasy football websites and a magazine here and there, I have noticed a common theme – Brady is ranked over Manning in …well, all of them. I have yet to find one fantasy guru step up to the plate and announce Manning as the better-valued QB this season.

So, with tongue firmly in cheek, I will be the first to cast that stone. In all honesty, I cannot find a single reason for hesitation in saying this season Manning not Brady should be the number three fantasy football QB. It appears so obvious. Too obvious.

Wes Welker left the New England Patriots. Welker is now a member of the Denver Broncos – advantage, Manning. Security valve Danny Woodhead is now a San Diego Charger. Montee Ball, arguably one of the greatest collegiate running backs of all time is a Bronco – advantage, Manning. Broncos have the weakest schedule of all NFL teams – advantage, Manning. Rob Gronkowski is (surprise, surprise) questionable as to when he can return to the field, Julian Edelman is fighting injury, Danny Amendola is an injury magnet and Brandon Lloyd is unemployed. Who is Brady throwing to this season? Once again, advantage, Manning.

Manning is a top three quarterback this season, denying that simply helps the competitor in your league that believes it. Manning is coming off of arguably his greatest season in the NFL, and that without the new toys he has in Welker and Ball.

There was a time that Manning was drafted ahead of Brady in ever fantasy football draft. That time has returned. Manning has far too many weapons, and Brady – far too many questions.
