This Saturday will mark the 29th time the lights were flipped on and the engines were started for the NASCAR All-Star race. There are no points being awarded in this one, just a measly $1 million to the winner, so expect the Good Ole Boys to be a little extra motivated in the oval.
There will be 19 drivers in the race, and to make it even more extreme, the race is segmented. The race is broken up into several different parts and there is a winner declared for each segment, which can be a headache for any fantasy NASCAR fans.
To help you draft this weekend, here are the top-19 fantasy NASCAR drivers for the 2013 Sprint All-Star race.
19. Marcos Ambrose
Marcos Ambrose – Ambrose isn’t racing well right now and will start the All-Star race back in 17th. He is pretty much the bottom of the barrel for fantasy fans this Saturday night.
18. David Ragan
David Ragan – Ragan won Talladega after leading just four laps. He will start this race in 14th, but will most likely slowly start falling to the back of the pack with all the other big names in the field this weekend.
17. Kevin Harvick
Kevin Harvick – Harvick will get the honor of starting all the way at the back of the field, so expect him to be a risky pick in this quick race.
16. Ryan Newman
Ryan Newman – Newman will start the race in 11th and the veteran will have a tough trading paint with the youngsters.
15. Mark Martin
Mark Martin – Martin is a two-time winner of the race and the super-veteran will be worth keeping an eye on.
14. Clint Bowyer
Clint Bowyer – Bowyer has been red-hot as of late and has six consecutive top-18 finishes.
13. Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Junior is in the middle of another painful winless draught. Until he starts showing up consistently, he will remain a mid-level fantasy option.
12. Matt Kenseth
Matt Kenseth – Kenseth is coming off a win at the Southern 500, unfortunately he will start this race in 16th.
11. Jeff Gordon
Jeff Gordon – Gordon has won this race three times, but the last time was back in 2001.
10. Greg Biffle
Greg Biffle – Biffle has struggled recently for fantasy owners. However, he will get to start this race in eighth place, so look for Biff to stay near the middle of the pack all night long.
9. Kasey Kahne
Kasey Kahne – Kahne has five top-10 finishes in 11 races this season.
8. Denny Hamlin
Denny Hamlin – Hamlin officially retuned last weekend and managed to grab a second place finish. Now that he is finally healthy, expect him to be a headache for every other driver on the track.
7. Joey Logano
Joey Logano – J-Lo looked strong in qualifying and will start this race in fifth.
6. Kurt Busch
Kurt Busch – Busch has two straight top-four finishes at the All-Star race. He will start this year in second, so expect him to be near the front of the pack all night.
5. Tony Stewart
Tony Stewart – Stewart has cracked the top-five at the All-Star race in five of the last six years.
4. Kyle Busch
Kyle Busch – Busch has two straight top-four finishes in the All-Star challenge and he will be one of the most aggressive drivers out there.
3. Brad Keselowski
Brad Keselowski – Keselowski has two top-six finishes at the All-Star race over the last three years.
2. Jimmie Johnson
Jimmie Johnson – Johnson has won this race three times since 2003 and is the best under-pressure driver on the circuit.
1. Carl Edwards
Carl Edwards – Edwards will start this year’s All-Star race on the pole and won the race in 2011. Consider him the safest fantasy option this Saturday night.
