2013 Fantasy Baseball: Add OF Kyle Blanks Off Waivers

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

No team has been hotter over the last week than the San Diego Padres. They may have a 4-3 record over the last seven games, but the team has scored 46 runs and have offered some big stat lines for fantasy baseball fans. One hitter that has been on a tear recently has been OF Kyle Blanks.

Blanks is currently riding an eight-game hitting streak. During that streak, the outfielder has also racked up three home runs, three doubles, seven RBIs, and eight runs. He has raised his batting average from .264 all the way up to .299 during the streak and has an impressive .382 On Base Percentage to go along with it.

The 26-year-old has been hitting so well that he has been moved into the four-spot ahead of Will Venable. Blanks has shined with Everth Cabrera and Chris Denorfia hitting in front of him, and the 26-year-old will continue to see RBI chances in their lineup.

This season Blanks has played 20 games in left field, 21 games in right field, and has shockingly even played 11 games at first. In most leagues he can actually be plugged into first base, which may not seem like the best long-term idea, but it is never a bad idea to have more depth on your roster.

If Blanks is on the waiver wire in your league, I would advise taking a shot on the red-hot utility man. He is hitting everything right now and is a must-start while he is swinging such a hot bat.
