2013 Fantasy Baseball: SS Jean Segura Stands Alone

David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

And then there was one. This past week with Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki and San Diego Padres SS Everth Cabrera both going on the disabled list this, the most reliable fantasy baseball shortstop left is Milwaukee Brewers SS Jean Segura.

Segura went undrafted in a large number of leagues this spring, but he has since matured into a fantasy superstar. The 23-year-old currently has a robust .336 batting average, which is fourth in the National League, but he hasn’t stopped there.

The shortstop also has a jaw-dropping .269/.529/.897 slash line at the moment. Segura has already bashed 11 home runs to go along with an impressive 31 RBIs. He is showing power to both fields and his speed  constantly allows him to stretch doubles into triples. He has eight triples already this year and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him finish the year with over 20 three-baggers.

Segura has even added stolen 20 bases on the season and continues to be a menace on the bases. Most critics have primarily thought of him as just a speedster, but he as proven that he can be a strong power hitter as well as an elite base stealer.

Segura is currently the most dangerous shortstop in all of fantasy. He is hitting everything, stealing bases, and more importantly, staying healthy.
