Fantasy Football 2013: Larry Fitzgerald Will Have Bounce Back Year

Fitzgerald

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Larry Fitzgerald was once a top pick at the receiver position in every draft. Fitzgerald was able to sport the honor of being plastered on the cover of Madden 10, but since this honor his draft stock has fallen immensely.

Fitzgerald posted disastrous numbers for his fantasy owners in the 2012 NFL season finishing 35th in receiving yards with only four total touchdowns. Not what you would expect from a number one receiver who played every game for his Arizona Cardinals team.

The 2013 season will undoubtedly be a bounce back year for the veteran Fitzgerald.

The Cardinals decided they needed to make some drastic changes if they wanted to make a run at the playoffs in 2013. They brought in a new head coach and added a new team quarterback in Carson Palmer.

Palmer has shown that he has the potential to be a big time quarterback and will be able to get Fitzgerald the ball more than his previous quarterbacks have. New head coach Bruce Arians knows that Fitzgerald is his top offensive weapon and said that he wants to make sure Fitzgerald has the ball in his hands as much as possible.

These changes to the Cardinals are a major upside for anyone who is looking into drafting Fitzgerald. If he is going to bring more happiness to his fantasy owners this season, he sure has the resources to accomplish it.

Currently Fitzgerald is listed at the 11th best receiver to take in this year’s draft. He will return to his old form and easily post top 10 fantasy points at his respective position.

At what point in the draft should one pick the Cardinals receiver? That would depend on the trend your draft is taking.

Let’s say you landed a top three fantasy receiver on your team and need a solid number two. Fitzgerald is definitely the guy you’re going to want to draft.

If you decide to take running backs in the first two rounds and are looking for your number one receiver spot to be filled, Fitzgerald is again your man. At this point in the draft, most of the elite receivers will be taken and Fitzgerald is atop the second tier of fantasy receivers. He will have no problem bringing in big numbers to your team at the number one spot.
