2013 Fantasy Football Preview: Buffalo Bills’ E.J. Manuel
The Buffalo Bills took the only quarterback in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft back in April. Also, this is contingent completely on him being Kevin Kolb, which is extremely possible. Manuel has the ability to take off and run for a good distance of yards while Kolb doesn’t have that ability anymore after various injuries through the years. Also, Manuel has a far stronger arm that will rip through the bizarre winds of South Buffalo inside of Ralph Wilson Stadium. One final thing that Manuel has as well is a solid rapport with at least one of his fellow rookie wide receivers in Robert Woods.
Manuel stands 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 237 pounds. With all the targets the Bills have that are coming back and that are new and if he is the starting quarterback for week one, the sky is the limit with him fantasy wise. Teams will have to game plan for him throwing long to speedy wide receivers such as Marquise Goodwin and T.J. Graham not to mention the superb route runners in Stevie Johnson and the aforementioned Robert Woods. Additionally, he has tight ends that have very good if not great hands in Scott Chandler and rookie Chris Gragg and finally, his two main running backs in C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson as well.
All and all, if E.J. Manuel is named starting quarterback week one and plays in all 16 games, his passing numbers could be something around 3,200 yards passing, 27 touchdowns with 15 interceptions and 350 yards rushing with four touchdowns, fairly solid numbers for a Bills quarterback not to mention a rookie fantasy quarterback not named Robert Griffin III.
