Jacksonville Jaguars Top 5 Fantasy Players to Target

5 Jags
Rob Foldy-USA TODAY Sports

After a 2-14 season in 2012, the Jacksonville Jaguars are set up to have another disappointing season in 2013. They are clearly the worst team in the AFC South. Despite having Maurice Jones-Drew in the backfield and a fairly decent group of receivers, have no hope of making the playoffs in 2013.

Let's get to the main reason any non-Jaguars fan should care about Jacksonville — can anyone on this team help you in Fantasy Football? Probably not, but there are a few players worth thinking about later in your Fantasy Draft.

Jacksonville has a few assets; they have MJD, their tight end, Marcedes Lewis, and a few up and coming receivers. Don’t think about drafting more than one player from this team unless your goal is to come in last place in your Fantasy league. No one on this team is worth a top-10 pick, but there are a few players that could be worth a late round gamble.

The Jaguars are not a team loaded with Fantasy stars. It was actually very difficult to come up with five players on this team worth drafting, but, knowledge is power, especially in the cut-throat world of Fantasy Football. Who knows, there may be even be a player – one, single player, named Lewis – that is actually worth being drafted.

If you can think of any more Jaguars that could be on this list, feel free to share in the comments below. Here is a list of five players to think about drafting for your Fantasy Football team on the Jaguars:

No. 5 Blaine Gabbert

Okay, don’t choose Blaine Gabbert. Nothing against the guy, but he’s the worst quarterback in the entire NFL. Not his fault though; he was drafted into a bad team and immediately thrown into the NFL. He’s on this list because the Jaguars don’t even have five players worth drafting.

No. 4 Justin Blackmon

Phil Sears-USA TODAY Sports

Blackmon is the Jaguars’ most talented player, but he has a four-game suspension. If he can figure out his life, he could be a great addition very late in the draft.

No. 3 Cecil Shorts

He’s not going to get huge yardage very often; a poor selection of quarterbacks will hinder his potential. However, he does well with the opportunities he does get.

No. 2 Marcedes Lewis

Lewis is their best Fantasy Football prospect. Gabbert feels confident throwing to a tight end and Lewis benefits. Good, late TE choice.

No. 1 Maurice Jones-Drew

He can’t stay healthy, the Jaguars don’t have a good offensive line but he doesn’t stop going. Jones-Drew is a great player, so if you don’t get an RB until late, pick MJD.
