2013 Fantasy Baseball: Add OF Robbie Grossman Off Waivers

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Astros continue to slip down the standing in the American League, but the team still has several guys playing all out for fantasy baseball owners. One of those overlooked talents is OF Robbie Grossman.

Grossman’s strong play made it easier for the team to trade their opening day starter in center field, Justin Maxwell, to the Kansas City Royals. It has allowed Grossman to get everyday at-bats in Houston and he has not disappointed since being given the extra time.

Since being plugged back into the everyday lineup, the outfielder has been tearing the cover off the ball. Grossman is 29-85 in his last 21 games and has an unthinkable .341 batting average over that time. He has proven to be an amazing roto-league talent and the kid continues to make solid contact game after game.

Grossman has even added four stolen bases over his hot stretch, which has only helped his growing fantasy value. He only has three homers on the year, but the fact that his batting average is skyrocketing has only helped him become a more reliable fantasy option in the outfield.

The 23-year-old has been an amazing waiver wire addition to look for heading into the fantasy playoffs. Grossman may not play on a team contending for a championship, but he is still worth adding as a third outfielder in deeper leagues for a playoff push.
