2013 Fantasy Baseball: Alfonso Soriano Ready For Fantasy Playoffs

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

As the fantasy baseball playoffs approach, no hitter is hotter than OF Alfonso Soriano of the New York Yankees.

Soriano was brought over from the Chicago Cubs at the trade deadline and the outfielder has been absolutely punishing the baseball. He has only been with the team for 25 games, however, his fantasy value has gone through the roof since arriving in the Bronx.

Over that time, the outfielder has crushed nine home runs and driven in a ridiculous 29 runs. He is playing like he is in his prime and even the best hitters in baseball have had a hard time keeping pace with the new Bronx Bomber.

3B Detroit Tigers Miguel Cabrera has barely caught up with Soriano over that stretch, as the Triple Crown winner has nine home runs with 28 RBIs over his last 25 contests. Everyone regards Miggy as the best hitter in baseball, so to see Soriano get this hot at the end of the season is certainly reassuring for a playoff run.

Soriano has even added three stolen bases since coming over. Most would have thought that the 37-year-old would be stagnant on the bases, but he has been rather active since coming over. He should be able to add at least a couple stolen bases over the next couple weeks.

Soriano will be a great hitter to rely on throughout the fantasy playoffs. He may have been forgotten earlier in the season, but he has bounced back to become a pretty strong second outfielder.
