Tennessee Titans 2013 Fantasy Football Defense Preview

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

One of the most overlooked aspects of the average Fantasy Football team is the defense. The defense can make up for bad production from your star player with just one good game. The Tennessee Titans are the most underrated defense in the NFL going into 2013, and could be a steal in your Fantasy Draft.

With the additions of George Wilson and Super Bowl winner Bernard Pollard, the Titans’ pass defense has improved drastically. Michael Griffin will finally be allowed to play in his natural free safety position instead of strong safety. Although you’ve never heard of them, Jason McCourty and Alterraun Verner are two of the best upcoming young cornerbacks in the NFL.

If you give preseason games any credit, the Titans front line was having its way with the Atlanta Falcons‘ offensive line. It didn’t matter if it was first, second or third string out on the field; the Titans were pressuring the quarterback.

If the defensive front can consistently put pressure on opposing quarterbacks this season, the Titans’ defensive backs are going to have their way with receivers, and rack up interceptions galore.

The Titans’ defense will face the Jacksonville Jaguars twice, the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders, all who have quarterbacks with interception problems. Expect a huge year for the Titans’ pass defense, especially Griffin and McCourty.

Do not sleep on the Titans’ defense. This is one position of your Fantasy team that you can’t afford to get wrong and miss out on the extra points. The Titans have the type of athletes and schedule that are perfect for a high Fantasy point value defense.
