2013 Fantasy Baseball Playoffs: Start SP Adam Wainwright This Week

All season long one of the best fantasy baseball starters was St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright. He has 15 wins on the year and currently boasts a 2.96 ERA to go along with a glimmering 1.06 WHIP.

However, the veteran did not do too well in the first round of the fantasy playoffs. He surrendered nine earned runs on eight hits against the Cincinnati Reds and the right-hander only lasted two innings.  He was supposed to be one of the safest pitchers to start last week, but he simply fell apart.

Wainwright has earned a starting spot in fantasy rotations regardless of his poor start last week though. He has never had two bad outings in a row and the odds of him having another bad game is almost nonexistent.

Let’s look at his starts this week:

9/2 @ Cincinnati Reds

9/7 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Wainwright will get an extra trip to the hill next week and the additional start will more than make up for the concern about his recent rough outing.  Wainwright has been rather predictable for most of the season and he will be looking to put his horrid start behind him.

No matter what type of league you are in or what type of scoring your league has, Wainwright is a must start this round. He will pitch much better than he did last week and will show the world he can bounce back quickly.
