Week 1 Fantasy Football Headlines

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

The first week of the fantasy football season is just about over. There were some people who won by blowouts and there were some matchups that came down to the wire. Either way, everyone can learn something from Week 1.

Here are my top storylines from Week 1 of the fantasy football season.

Tom Brady Will Struggle Without TE Rob Gronkowski

Brady looked lost without his favorite weapon on Sunday. Several wideouts dropped passes and a couple times Tom Terrific even missed his target.  New England was able to do enough to get the win this week, but it wasn’t the most promising performance for #12 without his All-pro tight end.

Adrian Peterson Is As Good As We Think

Peterson took the very first carry of the season and went 78 yards for a touchdown. He finished the game with 93 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns and showed that his 2013 performance was no fluke. Expect big things from AP this season.

Colin Kaepernick Has An Underrated Arm

Kaepernick out dueled Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers for the second time in one calendar year. Kap finished the game 27-39 for 412 yards and three touchdowns and it was the best passing performance of his young career. He also added 22 yards on the ground, but the story of this game was Kaepernick’s arm.

Reggie Bush Boasts Potential

In his debut with the Detroit Lions, Bush fit in perfectly. He carried the ball a staggering 21 times for 90 yards, but the former first round pick also added 101 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. Bush even dislocated his thumb in the first half and still managed to do a bit of everything for fantasy owners. Bush is primed to have a monster fantasy campaign.

David Wilson Has Fumbling Problems Again

After fumbling in the first game of the season in 2012, Wilson was in the head coach Tom Coughlin’s doghouse. In the first game this year, Wilson’s fumbling woes have once again reared their ugly head. The team is currently trying to bring in a veteran back like Brandon Jacobs, Willis McGahee, or Joe McKnight to take some pressure of the young back. Needless to say, Wilson’s value this season is about to take a hit.
