2013 Fantasy Football: TE Martellus Bennett Showing Potential Early

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

The tight end position has become pretty deep in recent years. It seems every team has a former basketball star turned tight end and they all have the athleticism of a wide receiver.  Fantasy football fans have certainly noticed the increase production, because tight ends have been selected  higher and higher in recent drafts.

One these tight ends that did not disappoint in Week 1 was  Chicago BearsMartellus Bennett.

Bennett ended his first game in Chicago with three receptions for 49 yards and a beautiful touchdown grab. He was one of QB Jay Cutler’s favorite options in the middle of the field and the tight end was actually targeted six times in the ball game. The two formed an instant rapport and Bennett should end up becoming an amazing complimentary receiving option in the Windy City.

Make no doubt about it, Brandon Marshall is the number one option in Chicago, but Bennett will see plenty of balls his way all season long. Offensive Coordinator Marc Trestman loves this kid and will find every way possible to get the rock in his hands.

Bennett is in store for a career fantasy season in 2013. He has everything in place to help him succeed and it isn’t unrealistic to imagine him hauling in between 8-10 touchdowns this year in Chicago’s offense. If you have Bennett on your roster, start him with confidence each and every week.
