Dunta Robinson Out; Dallas Cowboys’ Wide Receivers Look To Have Big Day

Dallas Cowboys

Matthew Emmons – USA TODAY sports

Dunta Robinson might not be the best cornerback in the NFL, but he does bring a lot to the table for a vastly improved Kansas City Chiefs‘ secondary. With that being said, Robinson will not on the field this Sunday when the Dallas Cowboys visit Arrowhead Stadium, as he is tending to his cousin, who has slipped into a coma and is in intensive care after a terrible automobile accident.

Unfortunately, a breathing machine is the only thing keeping Robinson’s cousin alive, so the Chiefs’ cornerback is obviously making the right decision by not suiting up for Sunday’s game. Naturally, Kansas City supports Robinson, but it isn’t going to be easy for the Chiefs to replace him. While Robinson did only play in 1/3 of the snaps in Week 1, he does play a rather big role in this defense as he is responsible for keeping the opposing slot receiver at bay.

This is where the Cowboys come in.

Romo has made his living off of nailing guys in the slot, which means that a Robinson-less secondary is only going to aid the Dallas’ passing attack. Miles Austin has been in Dallas for eight years, yet his role as a slot wide receiver didn’t fully materialize until he was an All-Pro in 2009. Austin may be rather injury prone, but he’s only 29 years old, which isn’t that old for a wide receiver.

Nonetheless, look for Romo and the Cowboys to attack a defense that is without a guy that didn’t allow a single catch in Week 1.
