Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is listed as questionable and will be a game-time decision when the team takes on the Detroit Lions this afternoon. He was limited in practice with a hamstring injury all this week and has given no indication whether or not he’ll play on Sunday.
Unfortunately for those who own Fitzgerald on their fantasy team, the Cardinals don’t play until the 4:30 game. That means if you’re going to sit him, you need to do so before we’ll find out for sure if he will play this week.
But, I wouldn’t worry too much. The Cardinals have only three receivers on their active roster. Both Malcolm Floyd and Andre Roberts stepped up last week against the St. Louis Rams, but that’s literally all they have at receiver. If they didn’t think Fitzgerald was likely to play this week, they would have made a move to either bring someone up from the practice squad or sign someone off the street.
Arizona experimented with using All-Pro defensive back Patrick Peterson at slot receiver this summer, but they won’t use him extensively on offense when they need someone to at least attempt to stay with Calvin Johnson on defense.
Fitzgerald looked good in Week 1 when he and his new quarterback Carson Palmer teamed up for two touchdowns. If he can’t go, the Cardinals would be basically unable to run any multiple wide receiver sets, something head coach Bruce Arians likes to do.
Don’t make a rash move and sit him, it is highly unlikely that you will need to find a replacement for Fitzgerald in your fantasy lineup this week.
