If you were eager enough to start T.Y. Hilton on your fantasy football team in Week 2, then kudos to you for being so bold. The Indianapolis Colts talked Hilton up all off-season and he produced in the preseason, but he finished Week 1 of the regular season with a mere three catches for just 20 yards. Therefore, many owners threw Hilton on their bench with the hopes that he’d someday get out of Darius Heyward-Bey‘s shadow.
Oddly enough, Heyward-Bey went down with a shoulder injury in Sunday’s game and Hilton poured in the best game of his career. In fact, Hilton caught six passes for 124 yards receiving, and made one catch that Colts’ fans aren’t going to forget about anytime soon.
After a rookie season of over 850 yards receiving, it was apparent that Hilton had emerged as quarterback Andrew Luck‘s go-to guy when it comes to heaving up the deep ball. However, when Indianapolis decided to use its large cap space on Heyward-Bey in the off-season, folks wondered whether or not Hilton would enter the year as Luck’s third option. Unfortunately for Hilton owners and T.Y. himself, Heyward-Bey’s run-blocking skills landed him the gig over Hilton, who was relegated to a minor role.
Now if the aforementioned injury is severe, then look for Luck and Hilton to connect like they did on Sunday.
