In Week 3, you want to start Matthew Stafford.
I know I’m taking the easy way out because this is as obvious a choice for a must start as there is in Week 3, but I don’t care. If Stafford is on your team, then you want to start him because based on his Week 3 matchup he could potentially lead all fantasy quarterbacks in scoring.
I know Stafford has disappointed while on the road before, but his Week 3 matchup against the lowly Washington Redskins should make fantasy owners everywhere salivate.
In case you hadn’t heard, the Redskins secondary is atrocious, and as a unit, Washington has given up the most points to fantasy quarterbacks through two weeks. I think that the Redskins defense simply has too many holes in the secondary to contain Stafford and Calvin Johnson, who, by the way, is due for a huge game.
According to Pro Football Focus, the Redskins defense ranks dead last with a (-50.5) overall grade. The Redskins are also the lowest graded run defense (-32.4), the lowest graded pass defense (-17.0), and have yet to intercept a pass. So, you can see why I think that Week 3 will be a good one for Stafford and the Detroit Lions.
Another thing that Stafford has working for him, in Week 3, is that Reggie Bush isn’t 100 percent and will likely be limited throughout the game. That means that it will be up to Stafford to move the ball against that porous Redskins secondary.
