Buffalo Bills starting quarterback E.J. Manuel should be considered a sleeper to have an amazing game for Week 3. So far, he has completed over 68 percent of his passes in his first two weeks against some decent defenses in the New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers with 446 yards, three touchdowns and only one interception. Also, Manuel has the dynamic of being able to take off and run for big chunks of yards at a clip and with being a bigger quarterback at 6-foot-4 and 238 pounds he can take on linebackers and defensive backs with virtual ease if he wants to.
Another thing going in his favor is he has several weapons at his disposal including Stevie Johnson, Robert Woods, T.J. Graham and Scott Chandler, all who could create mismatches all over the field against the New York Jets‘ secondary. As a whole, the secondary looked extremely porous last Thursday night. The Patriots receivers had so many dropped passes, which caused Tom Brady to get angry throughout the game. Manuel is a tremendously smart quarterback as it seems that he has been learning as the game progresses and learns what reads work and which ones don’t, not to mention shows great poise and leadership for someone who is only going into his third game of his pro career.
All and all, it should be interesting to see what E.J. Manuel can do in his first professional football game on the road against a hostile divisional opponent and its loud fan base in the New York Jets.
