Fantasy Football Week 3 Dark Horse Sleeper: Oakland Raiders' Terrelle Pryor

Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor shocked the sports world when he stole the starting job under center this summer. The talented prospect has been steady so far this year, leading the Raiders to a 1-1 record in this young season. A second win will be tough to come by this Monday night when they take on their division rivals the Denver Broncos, but Pryor should have a good night against their defense.

The Denver defense has not shown an ability to get to the passer during their two big wins so far this year. That means Pryor should have time to throw. A young quarterback who struggles sometimes to read complicated NFL defenses, playing a team that will give him time to throw is a huge advantage.

Of course, Pryor is also a Fantasy darling because of his propensity for getting outside the pocket and making plays with his legs. He’s as fast as most receivers in the league. With 162 yards on 22 attempts already this year, Pryor could find himself running all over the Denver defense this week if the Broncos don’t take his running ability seriously.

Pryor isn’t going to be an every-week starter for you. He isn’t consistent enough and his team isn’t good enough. But, he’s got talent and there are going to be a few weeks here and there that he puts up serious points. This could be one of those weeks.

If you’re looking for a deep sleeper in your Fantasy Football league, Pryor is a good pickup. There are lots of quarterbacks who don’t have favorable matchups this week, if yours is one of them grab Pryor for the spot start and reap the rewards.
