Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Add RW Valeri Nichushkin

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

In recent fantasy hockey seasons, more and more youngsters have made an impact before their 21st birthday. These kids come into the league at over six feet tall and look more like veterans as opposed to teenagers.

One of these young guns to be thrust into the NHL spotlight this season is RW Valeri Nichushkin of the Dallas Stars. Nichushkin was drafted 10th overall in the first round of this year’s draft and the former Russian superstar has made it clear that he wants to continue playing hockey in the United States.

Nichushkin is a very physical forward, and at six-foot-four, he is a prototypical Russian winger. He can do astonishing things with the puck and has ability to make some highlight reel goals. The 18-year-old prodigy will get to play on one of the team’s top lines this season and has to be an early favorite to win the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie. Nichushkin will get every opportunity to showcase his skills in Dallas and any fantasy hockey owner would be wise to grab him now before he starts racking up the points.

Nichushkin is one of the elite youngsters to target this season, especially in any type of dynasty leagues. If you can get a hold of this Russian assassin, do it now before he becomes a household name.
