Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Brandon LaFell

Who said that the Carolina Panthers are going to focus on running the ball this season? Well, it looked like that for the first few weeks of the season. Quarterback Cam Newton was not doing so well and all Panthers’ receivers were struggling. Over the past few weeks, this has changed and fantasy owners need to listen up.

If you are a fantasy football manager, you already know about Greg Olsen and Steve Smith. These players have been the consistent Panthers that owners usually have on their respective teams. However, there is one guy that blew up in Week 6 that you need to add this week in fantasy football.

Brandon LaFell had a great Week 6. LaFell had four catches for 107 yards with a touchdown. Many people might say that this is not enough to justify picking up LaFell on their fantasy team. Well, here are some more things to consider.

First, this is not his first big week of the season. In Week 3 of the season, LaFell had two touchdown receptions against the New York Giants. He usually gets good looks when teams focus on Smith, Olsen or the Panthers’ running game.

Also, this is not the first fantasy season that LaFell has made some noise. Last season, LaFell was a consistent start for a few weeks of the season for teams who needed a good flex play option.

Look, Brandon Lafell is not going to be like Justin Blackmon off the waiver wire this season. However, LaFell will be a solid addition for your fantasy team’s bench. He will have some very good games down the stretch, especially against teams like the New Orleans Saints when the Panthers will have to out gun them to win.
