2013 Fantasy Hockey: Keep Hot Sticks In Your Lineup

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Like most fantasy sports, fantasy hockey is all about hot and cold streaks. Obviously All-Stars like Evgeni Malkin, Henrik Sedin, and Alexadner Ovechkin can get hot at any moment, but true fantasy championships are won by knowing which guys to ride during one of these streaks. To help you out, here is list of some of the hottest lesser-known sticks in fantasy hockey that should stay in your lineup.

LW Alexander Steen, St. Louis Blues – In just five games this year, Steen has already tallied eight points. He has scored four goals and has added an equally impressive four helpers. The winger is tied for third in the NHL in points and the veteran is carrying the Blues this year. Steen is a must-start until he shows any signs of slowing down.

C Lars Eller, Montreal Canadiens – Eller is another unsung hero that has continued to light the lamp. He has five goals through the first six games, including two game-winning goals. He has also added two assists, a power play assist, and a shorthanded goal already this year.

LW Jiri Hudler, Calgary Flames – Hudler is another underappreciated winger putting together a strong fantasy season. He is leading his team in points (7), assists (5), and +/- (+3). Hudler is on pace for a career season and is one of the hottest sticks in all of fantasy at the moment.

C Tomas Hertl, San Jose Sharks – The rookie has been on fire so far in his first taste of the NHL. He is currently leading the entire league with seven goals and the 19-year-old shockingly scored five goals last week alone. He has guided the team to a 6-0-0 start and the Czech is one of the best young guns in hockey.
