Week 7 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Replacements For RB DeMarco Murray

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

On Sunday night, Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray went down with a sprained MCL in his knee. It was a devastating blow to the fantasy football world and instantly had owners searching the waiver wire for a viable replacement. To help you fill the void, here are some of the best waiver wire replacements for Murray heading into Week 7.

RB Willis McGahee, Cleveland Browns (60.8%) – McGahee can be a hidden gem to look for on the waiver wire this week. He is the primary back on Cleveland’s roster and is without a doubt the goal-line back, evident by his 10 carries inside the opponent’s 10-yard-line this year. He won’t wow anyone with his rushing totals or average, but his true value comes from his ability to get into the end-zone. He will to face off against the depleted Green Bay Packers’ defense this week, and if Cleveland can move the ball at all, McGahee will get a couple shots to fall into the end-zone.

RB Joseph Randle, Dallas Cowboys (1.4%) – The most obvious replacement for Murray would be his backup. Randle scored a touchdown in Murray’s absence on Sunday night, despite not having the most productive outing running the ball (17 yards on 11 carries). Randle will still be the primary back while Murray is on the mend, so this is your chance to grab this starter before your competition.

RB Zac Stacy, St. Louis Rams (8.0%) – Stacy has earned the starting running back spot with the St. Louis Rams, but he is shockingly still available in over 90% of ESPN leagues. He has shown that he can be a strong north-to-south runner even if he doesn’t possess home run ability. He can be a very serviceable back this week for anyone that needs a spot starter.

RB Brandon Jacobs, New York Giants (2.1%) – Jacobs shocked the fantasy world last Thursday night by ripping off 106 yards on 22 carries and scoring two touchdowns. It couldn’t have come as a better time, as the team desperately needed someone to step up in the running game with the uncertainty surrounding David Wilson’s neck injury and Andre Brown still on the shelf. Jacobs is nursing a minor hamstring injury, but he will be a solid replacement for Murray owners if he can play in Week 7.
