Fantasy Football: Jacquizz Rodgers Will Benefit from Atlanta Falcons’ Injuries

Rodgers

Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

When fantasy football managers who own Matt Ryan heard that Julio Jones was out for the rest of the season, it was traumatic. When these same fantasy football managers heard that Roddy White would miss Week 7, Ryan managers were screaming, “You got to be kidding me!”

Ryan owners listen up. Before you go and do anything irrational like trading him or giving up on the rest of the fantasy season, I give you some hope: running back Jacquizz Rodgers.

If you own Rodgers or could still get him as a free agent, please take this into consideration. Ryan has hardly anyone to throw the ball to that can make any noise offensively. That means running the ball and checking passes down to the running backs is what the Atlanta Falcons are going to have to do for the rest of the season.

Rodgers is not the power back that Steven Jackson can be when he is healthy. However, Rodgers has electric speed out of the backfield. That makes Rodgers an ideal player to throw screen passes to and have him run all day long down the field.

If you need some more evidence instead of my word, look at the numbers from Week 7. Rodgers had eight receptions for 46 yards. He also scored two touchdowns in the game. Yes, this is just one week of sample size, but this is what the Falcons are going to have to do to be somewhat successful for the rest of the season.

Rodgers will not be Barry Sanders, but if you are looking for someone to start as a flex play or a RB2 for some weeks, he should have some nice games for you the rest of the season if the Falcons continue to use him like they did in Week 7.
