If you’re really quiet, you can hear them. Listen. If you do not own Doug Martin on your fantasy football team, then you are not sure what I am talking about. However, you can hear all of his fantasy owners screaming “No!”

In his Week 7 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Pro Bowl running back left the game with a shoulder injury. Reports out of Bucs camp is that X-rays came back negative. That is a good thing for Martin and his owners. The bad news is that the Buccaneers have a short week this week and play the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night.

If you are in need of someone to potentially replace Martin this week, than Mike James is the guy you want to pick up off of the waiver wire.

James came into the game against the Falcons to replace the injured Martin. James has not had much work this season, but the sixth-round draft pick out of the University of Miami could see a significant increase in his workload this week. Even if Martin plays on Thursday night, do not look for him to carry the entire load for all of the the game.

The Bucs are winless, and it would not be a smart idea to risk further, more significant injury to their star running back. That means more carries for James even if Martin plays. If Martin is out for the week, than James would be a nice addition for Week 8.

For Martin owners, I hope that he can recover quickly from this injury and it is not too serious. However, if this injury keeps Martin sidelined for a while, James could be a good pickup.
