2013 Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: C Frans Nielsen

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Everyone in fantasy hockey knows how valuable C John Tavares of the New York Islanders can be to a fantasy squad, but the team has another center making an impact for the fantasy community.

C Frans Nielsen is off to a career start this year. He has incredibly scored five goals and added six helpers through the first nine games of the season and has continuously surprised fantasy fans. Nielsen has even scored four goals in the last five contests alone and has truly been producing like a top-tier forward.

Nielsen has built an amazing rapport with LW Pierre-Marc Bouchard and RW Josh Bailey on the team’s second line. They may not garnish the attention of the team’s top line, but the second unit has still been able to contribute regularly for the Isles.

Even more promising is that the seven-year veteran has been much more aggressive with the puck this season. Nielsen has fired 20 shots on goal through the first nine games and has looked much more confident on the ice. He is playing with a new swagger and it keeps showing up in the box score night after night.

Nielsen is only owned in just 31 % of CBS leagues at the moment and the veteran can be a great waiver wire addition at this point in the year. If you can grab him off the wire this week, do it now before it is too late.
