The Miami Dolphins made a big splash during free agency by signing former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace to compliment Brian Hartline. They also signed Brandon Gibson from the St. Louis Rams as a No. 3 wideout.

Entering Week 8, Hartline leads the team in fantasy points, Gibson is second and Wallace is third according to ESPN standard scoring. Overall, they are ranked 33rd, 45nd and 48th. That’s right, the big free-agent signing is not performing up to expectations.

Gibson scored 16 fantasy points last week (40 yards and two touchdowns), his highest since Week 13 of last year. Gibson benefited from former Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola‘s injuries and had his best year with 691 yards and five touchdowns. He already has 322 yards and two scores.

Quarterback Ryan Tannehill continue to look Gibson’s way. He has at least four receptions in the last four games and five out of six. Those consistent numbers make Gibson a must-own in deep PPR leagues. Along with his 16-point performance, Gibson has scored seven points on three separate occasions.

With 12 teams on a bye in the next two weeks, you can do much worse than Gibson. He’s worth adding in deeper leagues. You should be able to claim Gibson easily, considering he’s only owned in 1.1 percent of ESPN leagues.

The Dolphins travel north to take on the New England Patriots. The New York Jets were able to defeat the Patriots with middle-of-the-road players (and the help of an unknown rule). With the struggles on the Patriots’ defense, Gibson could surprise a lot of people with another 10-plus points.
