Fantasy Football Week 8: Jordy Nelson Set to Shine

Sunday Night Football features a clash between division rivals this week as the Green Bay Packers take on the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers might be winning games lately but they’ve been losing in the process as well. They’ve lost a number of key offensive players to injury in the last couple weeks, including Randall CobbJames Jones and most recently Jermichael Finley. Jones should be back sometime soon but the other two are out for the foreseeable future with more significant injuries. In the meantime, the Packers are going to have to rely heavily on the few healthy players they have left. Luckily for the team, one of those players is more than up to the challenge.

Jordy Nelson has been unstoppable this season. He seems to be getting open deep down the field at will and apparently not even the most elite corners in the league can shut him down completely, as he beat Joe Haden for a touchdown last week. He’s piled up some very nice numbers thus far, catching 32 passes for 526 yards and five touchdowns. What’s also notable is that most of that came when he was just one of several great options for Aaron Rodgers to throw to. With the situation having changed drastically now, Rodgers will be looking for Nelson very, very often and he shouldn’t have trouble finding him. The two will burn secondaries for the rest of the season starting this week against the Vikings.

The Vikings have been terrible this year on both sides of the ball. They have one of the worst pass-defenses in the league, allowing almost 290 yards per game through the air. That’s not good news for a team about to go up against one of the best quarterbacks in the game. Rodgers is going to carve them up and Nelson will be the knife.

Nelson is a solid bet to be a top-five Fantasy receiver this week and if all goes according to plan for the Packers, he might stay up in those ranks the rest of the way as well. This is going to be a performance worth watching.
