2013 Fantasy Hockey: LW Alexander Steen Still Scoring

Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

The St. Louis Blues have been scoring like crazy this fantasy hockey season. The team is currently ranked second in the NHL with 3.4 goals per game and they have been able to get pucks past some of the best netminders in all of hockey.

The main contributor for the Blue Boys this fantasy year has been veteran left winger, Alexander Steen. The winger has shockingly scored 14 goals already this season, including nine goals in the last ten games alone. The 29-year-old seems to be lighting the lamp on nightly basis and has quickly become a fantasy superstar.

Steen has also added six assists to his incredible stat line and has racked up 20 points on the year. He is even tied with superstars Nicklas Backstrom and Henrik Sedin for third in the league in points, which just shows how big of a year he is really having.

Steen’s sudden offensive explosion has been rather unexpected. He scored just eight times through 40 games last season and only scored 15 goals back in 2010, so his 14 goals this season has been absolutely shocking. He is playing with a ton of confidence nowadays and it has helped him develop into an All-Star caliber player.

The forward is on pace to finish among the top skaters in fantasy this year. He should have no problem reaching 50 points this season and a 60-point season may even be possible with Steen’s current scoring streak.
