Fantasy Football Week 10: Trouble For Tony Romo?

Tony Romo is having an incredible fantasy season by all accounts. One of the biggest bargains in drafts this year, he’s averaging 283.7 yards per game and he’s thrown 20 touchdowns. Not many teams have been able to slow him down and he’s looked cool and collected in the pocket all season. Going up against the New Orleans Saints, however, might be more of a struggle than his fantasy owners were anticipating.

The Saints boast one of the best pass defenses in the league, but that’s not actually why I’m concerned about Romo. My real concern with Romo and the rest of the Dallas Cowboys‘ offense this week is the revenge factor.

You may recall that just a year ago, Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan was running the same show in Dallas. The Cowboys had a ton of issues last season, but their defense was very far from their biggest concern, yet owner Jerry Jones decided that firing Ryan was somehow the answer to their problems. It was an incredibly stupid move and the entire football world knew it, but what’s done is done.

Ryan obviously moved on and had no trouble finding a new job, but you can bet that his eyes lit up when he first saw the schedule for this season.

The Cowboys head into New Orleans on Sunday night, and Ryan is going to throw everything he possibly can at them to make their lives miserable. He’s known for being one of the more fiery and animated characters in football, and we’re going to see a lot of that in this game. He’s going to want his revenge and his players are going to want to help him get it. I think you’re going to see the Saints’ defense very fired up and I think the Cowboys are in for an extremely rough night.

I know it’s hard to sit Romo at this point but be forewarned — Ryan will be looking to send Jerry Jones a serious message in this one.
