Week 11 Fantasy Football Dark Horse Sleeper: Arizona Cardinals DEF/ST

By Adam McGill

The Arizona Cardinals defense has not provided many points for fantasy football owners this season. The unit is in the middle of the pack in nearly every defensive category and has only racked up 26 sacks this year with 12 interceptions.

Recently, however, the team’s defense has been much more useful for fantasy owners. They have impressively racked up nine sacks and seven turnovers over the last three games alone. The defense is finally getting to the quarterback on a consistent basis and have started to outperform some of the more popular defenses in fantasy. The unit is really starting to heat up and will benefit from an extremely favorable matchup this Sunday.

The team’s red-hot defense will face off against the lowly  Jacksonville Jaguars this week, which just screams fantasy potential. They may be coming off their first win of the season, but it was unfortunately prefaced by eight consecutive blowout losses. Jacksonville ranks 22nd passing the ball and 31st rushing the ball, so they won’t be too difficult for Arizona to contain defensively.

Arizona is certainly not a long-term option by any means, but this is one week that the unit deserves to be started in every fantasy format. They should be able to get at least three sacks and two turnovers against the lack-luster Jacksonville squad.
