2013 Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Mike Cammalleri

Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

The Calgary Flames have really cooled off, as the team has only won one of their last seven games. During the team’s current slump, though, LW Mike Cammalleri has remained red-hot. He has been so hot, that the veteran has become a pretty strong  fantasy hockey option in recent weeks.

Cammalleri has racked up 11 points on the year and the 31-year-old has blown say expectations this season. He has added nine points in his last eight games, including seven goals. He has only played in 10 games, but the middleman is still ranked third on the team in points and is shockingly leading the entire team with eight goals. The team needed a playmaker on offense, besides Jiri Hudler, and Cammy has more than filled that role lately.

The forward is getting some quality shifts and has looked much more comfortable on the ice. He is becoming more patient with his shots and he is finally letting his screens set up before shooting. His newfound confidence has done wonders for his fantasy value.

Cammalleri is shockingly owned in just 52% of CBS leagues and will be a great midseason pickup. He won’t keep up his point-per-game production, but he will likely still finish with around 40-50 points when it is all said and done. If he is still sitting on the wire in your league, don’t be afraid to take a shot on him.
