Antonio Brown Showing that He Can be a Number One Fantasy Receiver

It’s not always easy for me to admit that I am wrong – if you don’t believe me, ask my fiancé – but this has been a long time coming.

At the beginning of the season, as well as for most of this fantasy football season, all I have said was, “Antonio Brown is a great number two receiver in the NFL and is worth maybe a flex play in fantasy football!” Well, Brown has made me eat my words over the past few weeks.

Brown has had a much better season than I would have even imagined. With the departure of Mike Wallace to the Miami Dolphins, Brown was inserted in the number receiver slot for the Pittsburgh Steelers. All he has done this season is have 74 receptions with 952 yards and five touchdowns. This is an amazing fact because Brown does not have the size of players like A.J. Green or Calvin Johnson. Brown is the classic slot receiver with great speed.

If you drafted Antonio Brown in your fantasy football draft, you probably expected him to be a solid WR2 option. However, Brown is having a much better season than players like Marques Colston, Jordy Nelson and of course Mike Wallace. All of these players were slated to be WR1 options. Brown is getting more targets than all of these players and is making the most of his opportunity.

If you were one of the lucky ones that drafted Antonio Brown, I can see him staying as a very solid receiver for your fantasy team for the rest of the season. Is he a Calvin Johnson? Of course not! However, Brown’s numbers show that he has reached the statues of a WR1 in fantasy football and you drafted him at a WR2 level. Go you!
