Fantasy Football: Carson Palmer Could be a Sneaky Play Down the Stretch

There is a country music song that goes a little something like this:

“There might be a little dust on the bottle, but don’t let it full you about what’s inside. There might be a little dust on the battle. It’s one of those things that gets sweeter with time.”

This song by David Lee Murphy and is a very appropriate way to describe the fantasy football resurgence of Carson Palmer.

At the beginning of the season, many experts and fantasy managers predicted that Palmer would have one of the best seasons of his career. The Cardinals possess one of the best offensive weapons in the NFL in Larry Fitzgerald. The Cardinals also went out and got offensive-minded wizard Bruce Arians, who excelled with quarterbacks such as Ben Roethlisberger and Andrew Luck. Why wouldn’t this be Palmer’s best fantasy season ever?

Thing didn’t get off to the predicted start right away, however. Palmer just did not seem to be building chemistry with his receivers and the Cardinals were just not winning games.

Since their matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, though, Palmer has been a very good fantasy play. In the weeks following and including the game against the 49ers, Palmer has either thrown for 240-pls yards or has thrown multiple touchdowns in a game. These are numbers all fantasy football managers want to see.

In his last two games, Palmer has thrown for a total of 733 yards and four touchdowns. I think the chemistry is there now, and I see Palmer moving up in the fantasy football rankings.

With some very important quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers still injured, I feel that Palmer would be a very nice, sneaky play at quarterback for many of you. Palmer is now on a team that is winning and is also fighting for a playoff spot. He will continue to impress people the rest of the season. I hope that if you need a quarterback, you seriously consider Carson Palmer. Just because there is some dust on the bottle, doesn’t mean what is inside is not still good!
