2013 Fantasy Football Week 13 Dark Horse Sleeper: Jacksonville Jaguars D/ST

Jacksonville Jaguars

This one is for those gamblers out there. Are you willing to take a chance? Do you want to go bold or go home? If you answered “yes” to those questions I got the gambling man’s fantasy football super deep Sleeping Beauty sleeper of the week, the Jacksonville Jaguars D/ST.

What? Yes, you read that right, the Jaguars D/ST are a sneaky option for you defensive streamers and gamblers out there.

Why? To start things off the Jaguars are the third highest scoring D/ST in fantasy football over the last month of the season, ahead of the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs. Yet, they are owned in only one percent of Yahoo! leagues. Over those last three games, the Jaguars defense has racked up six sacks, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, a safety and a defensive touchdown. During that span they are averaging 22.3 fantasy points per game.

That trend should continue this week when the Jaguars travel to take on the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are currently allowing the ninth most fantasy points per game to opposing D/ST’s. Cleveland has allowed 39 sacks on the season, second most in the league. They have thrown 13 interceptions on the season, ninth most in the league. The Browns offense is the fourth worst offense in football. Even with star Josh Gordon, the Browns offense is shaky at best. Due to the Jason Campbell concussion, they will be forced to start Brandon Weeden again who has thrown more interceptions (seven) than touchdowns (six) on the season.  The Browns are also averaging only 81 yards per game on the ground (28th in the league) and are gaining less than four yards per rushing attempt (they rank 26th in YPA).

There are several great defenses with tough matchups this week that would give owners a reason to consider streaming the Jaguars this week. The Seahawks host the New Orleans Saints, the Cincinnati Bengals travel to take on the San Diego Chargers, and the Chiefs host the Denver Broncos without Justin Houston. It would take a bold owner to sit some of those stud defenses, but the Jaguars have a great matchup and could payoff for the gamblers out there.

As always, I welcome your comments. If you think I’m wrong, I’m willing to listen. Just back it up with some facts and solid evidence. Thanks for reading and good luck this season.
