Fantasy Football: Week 13 Flex Plays at Receiver

Thanksgiving is such a great holiday! There’s tons of food, great people, and you get to watch football football while you pass out from the tryptophan!

Many players had some great games on Thanksgiving, such as Calvin Johnson and DeMarco Murray. With six teams having already played, it is very hard to get a quality player for your flex play in Week 13. Nonetheless, I picked three players that I think will benefit many of you this week as you strive to make the playoffs in all of your respective leagues.

Michael Floyd

If Floyd was a stock, you should have bought him two weeks ago because he is really on the rise! In his last two games, Floyd has 297 yards receiving and a touchdown. Over this span, he has looked like a totally new player. Is it because he’s playing opposite Larry Fitzgerald? Is it that he is building a better chemistry with quarterback Carson Palmer?

Who knows, and who cares! If you are a fantasy manager, you love seeing numbers like this, especially at this critical point in the season. In Week 13, the Arizona Cardinals are taking on the Philadelphia Eagles. Look for this to be a game where the Eagles focus on shutting down Fitzgerald, which will give Floyd many opportunities to have another big game. I am thinking that Floyd will have at least 90 yards receiving and maybe a touchdown.

Julian Edelman

In all fantasy football leagues around world, it is a game of “what have you done for me lately?” If this is the case, then Edelman is the poster boy for it after an amazing bounce-back game against the Denver Broncos which saw him go for 110 yards and two touchdowns receiving. I was one of those people that felt Danny Amendola would have had a huge game against the Broncos, but this was not the case. Edelman and quarterback Tom Brady just seem to have a better rapport than he does with Amendola.

In Week 13, the New England Patriots are taking on the struggling Houston Texans. The Texans have lost to quarterbacks like Matt McGloin and Chad Henne in the past few weeks. If they could not beat those guys, then they are going to have a terrible time trying to stop Brady and his receivers. I see Edelman finding the end zone again this week and racking up more than 60 yards receiving.

Steve Smith

If there is one thing you can say about Smith this fantasy football season, it is that he is consistent. Now, I am not saying he has been eye-popping in his numbers, but he has averaged about 60 yards a game and not many touchdowns. This week, the Carolina Panthers are taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs have actually not been as bad against the pass as they have been against the run lately. I feel that the Bucs are going to want to try and contain Cam Newton, who had a big game against them earlier in the year, which will permit Smith to have a chance for a touchdown in the red zone in Week 13.

Look for the same old of Smith with yardage, but like I said, I think he has a nice shot at scoring this week.
