Fantasy Football: Alshon Jeffrey Can Be a Huge Play in the Playoffs

We all love a player that is hot going into the fantasy football playoffs. We would rather have consistency like we get from Calvin Johnson, but getting hot at the right time will also do!

When you play fantasy football, you always have to play the matchups. These things can make or break your team in on any given week. If you are looking for a player that can potentially have some great games during the fantasy football playoffs, look no farther than Alshon Jeffrey of the Chicago Bears.

It is nice to be the player who lines up next to Brandon Marshall, and for many weeks of the season, Jeffrey has shown that he can produce almost on the same level as Marshall. In his second season out of South Carolina, Jeffrey has been a target for the Bears’ quarterbacks that can be called upon when it counts.

Going into Week 13’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, Jeffrey has had a solid season catching 58 balls for 860 yards, but only three touchdowns. The touchdowns are not his fault. Brandon takes up most of the targets when the Bears get near the end zone.

In Week 13, however, Jeffrey had the game of his career. He not only had 249 yards receiving, but he pulled in two touchdowns. This was a very big statement game for him and was a message to his fantasy owners: play him!

Jeffrey is headed for the first 1,000-yard receiving season of his young career. There are other receivers that were picked higher in drafts that will not see 1,000 yards like Hakeem Nicks. If you currently own him, think about the reasons why you should not play him going into your leagues’ playoffs.

Yes, if you have better options like A.J. Green or Keenan Allen, I can see why you’d sit him for those guys. However, if you are hoping that players like Michael Crabtree or Eric Decker will produce more than Jeffrey, you are probably wrong.

Look, I know that Jeffrey is only a second-year player and it is tough to trust him in the most important part of the season. I say play the guy that is hot and play that guy that has the best chance to produce for your team. For many of you, that player is Jeffrey, and I hope this helps you see the truth!
